About the good building consultant

I am Louise Swann – the good building consultant.

At the beginning of 2011, I decided that I wanted to be at the top of the cliff – I am no ambulance driver.

I decided that I was going to

• focus on performance

• embrace accountability, and

• manage the residual risk.

From 2011 until 2022 , as part of the TBB team I

• assisted MBIE in the introduction of CodeMark

• assisted MBIE in the development of the product assurance framework and product technical statement

• developed the pass™ and the technical document suite

• introduced the process for creating a performance framework for building products which could then be linked back to the building code, and

• worked with clients on a performance-based approach to product and service delivery.

But at the beginning of 2022 I decided it was time to go out on my own. In this last year I have

• worked with clients to manage their risk through focussing on performance and excellence of documentation,

• started clients to think about sustainability, that it is more than just an EPD, and

• developed a full range of tools to assist product suppliers to meet their BPIR requirements in a way that tells their market that they are to be trusted.
