BPIR

BPIR are the Building (Building Product Information Requirements) Regulations 2022. Use the BPIR to show your market that,

  • you are a company to be trusted

  • you carry out robust due diligence with sourcing products

  • your products will work, and where and how they can be used.

Let me be part of your team

As one of your team members I can,

  • identify those products where BPIR applies, and those where they do not,

  • check your website for information gaps and provide options for fixing this,

  • create designed BPIR declarations, that correctly identify code clauses and include other information that tells your market about you.

What is BPIR?

A BPIR is a list of information that must be made available on your website. This is prescribed in the Regulations.

It allows your market to make an informed decision when making product choices.

The information tells the market

  • your product’s use,

  • where and how your product is to be used,

  • how your product contributes to building code compliance, and

  • what you base this information on.

The information must be available without the need for a login but all information does not need to be one place on your website.

The key attributes for where BPIR applies are where the product

  • is used in building work,

  • is new and for sale, and

  • contributes to the building code compliance of the completed building work.

Get the most out of BPIR

Ensure your information gives the right messages to the right audiences.

My BPIR principles

  • Make sure the information you supply is correct to show that you understand your product and the law.

  • Controlled information should only be in one place. This prevents the market being provided inconsistent and ambiguous information.

  • Target the information for the audience - make it easy to follow and to read from the audience perspective.

  • Create a BPIR declaration that provides information not provided elsewhere and then links to the other information.

  • Group products so that one BPIR declaration covers more than one product - reduce the burden of creating multiple declarations.

  • Make sure the information on the BPIR declaration is only information that is unlikely to change - keep updating to a minimum.
